João was born in Lisbon, Portugal but he grew up in Geneva, Switzerland. He holds a masters in filmmaking from the London Film School and a degree in economics from the London School of Economics.

He has a sharp eye for details and creative storytelling, allowing him to build real and charming characters. His short films have played internationally at several Oscar and Bafta qualifying festivals and his work has been featured in directors notes and other platforms.

João has worked for several contemporary fashion brands, including Fairly Normal and Constança Entrudo. He aims to create striking visuals and characters that stay with the viewer after the film has ended, be it in his fiction and commercial work.
